Cover of report "Towards a centre of excellence"About this report:

In November 2011, more than 20 stakeholders from violence against women organizations across Ontario participated in a Think Tank. The goal of this meeting was to explore the concept of developing a Centre for Excellence on Family Law and Violence Against Women. The meeting was hosted by Luke’s Place and Action ontarienne.

This report describes the planning and outcomes of the Think Tank, as well as research and discussion occurring prior to and following the event. After detailing the event itself, the report establishes the business case for a Centre of Excellence, identifying the need, the role and activities of such an institute, the audience, and the “working assumptions” and guiding principles.

The report concludes with the next steps to which Luke’s Place and Action ontarienne have committed. These include meeting with funders, exploring partnerships and addressing the challenges.
