Supporting after separation: Legal information and resources for a survivor’s friends and family members

Luke’s Place is excited to announce our newest toolkit, “Supporting After Separation: A Toolkit of Legal Information and Resources for a Survivor’s Friends and Family Members”.

If you are a family member or a friend of a woman with children who is leaving an abusive relationship, this toolkit is for you.

After separation, a woman must focus not only on keeping herself and her children safe but also on navigating co-parenting arrangements and communications with her ex-partner. We know family and friends have an important role to play in helping to support your loved one through this process. This toolkit provides some of the information you will need to provide this support in an effective way.

Toolkit tips for allies

The toolkit contains legal information and resources so that you are able to:

  • understand the impact that violence has on a family
  • communicate with your family member or friend in a healthy and effective way
  • assist your loved one with the family law process
