For immediate release: Get ready for the third annual community walk to end intimate partner violence
Durham, Ontario – August 31, 2026 – On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., nine organizations serving women and survivors across the Durham Region will come together to host the Third Annual Community Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence at Durham Region Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby.
The event is presented by Bethesda House, Herizon House, Luke’s Place, Safety Network Durham (a division of CFSD), The Denise House, Victim Services Durham Region, Women’s Multicultural Resource & Counselling Centre of Durham (WMRCC), Durham Rape Crisis Centre, and YWCA Durham, in collaboration with the Region of Durham.
“Ending intimate partner violence requires all of us,” said the hosting coalition. This walk is more than a community event—it is a public commitment to stand with survivors, challenge the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to continue, and work together to build a future where everyone can live safely and with dignity.”
