Today the world is coming together in recognition of International Day of the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Today we are asking you to join us in showing your support by sharing our posts on your social media and by making a meaningful donation.
Text COURAGE to give. Donations that come through text message will be distributed equally to participating women’s shelters, across Ontario, including Luke's Place.
For 7 straight years communities across Ontario have joined the Wrapped in Courage campaign by coming together to support the many brave women who face and have fled violence. In Ontario, 1 in 3 women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime and these numbers increase exponentially if the woman is Black, Indigenous or a Woman of Colour. 17,000 courageous women and children have to stay in Violence Against Women shelters in communities across Ontario every year. You can help make sure that we are here for those brave women the moment they are ready.
The courage of a woman alone is not enough. It takes the support of an entire community to end violence against women.
This is where you come in.
In the last 7 years, we have gained momentum and support from hundreds of thousands of Ontarians who have purchased our purple campaign scarves to wear loudly in support of the courage of women facing violence. This year, things are different. and we are not selling scarves. But you can still help.
Join us today!
