The Law Foundation of Ontario spotlights our Virtual Legal Clinic

Our Virtual Legal Clinic connects women in rural and remote communities to lawyers for free family law advice. Survivors of abuse learn how to complete court forms, what to expect during the family court process and strategies that would be effective for their individual cases.

The Law Foundation of Ontario profiles the Clinic on their website, including interviews with a participating pro bono lawyer, a women’s advocate who regularly uses the service with her clients, and our Legal Director

The Foundation has provided ongoing support for the Virtual Legal Clinic. Currently Luke’s Place is the recipient of a Catalyst grant from The Foundation which allows us to expand the Clinic into southeastern Ontario and continue to offer the services in the northeast, northwest and eastern regions of the province.

Other support for the project came from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for development of the online training for the Clinic’s pro bono lawyers and from The McLean Foundation and the George Lunan Foundation which allowed us to travel to Sioux Lookout to deliver training to service providers in the northwest.
