Preparation of clients in Durham Region
We help women work effectively with their lawyer.
If you have a client living in Durham Region who may have been subjected to abuse in her relationship, please connect her with us.
We support women so they can focus on their case. This means we provide women with:
- Emotional support and coping skill strategies
- Safety planning which facilitates requests for appropriate restraining orders
- Assistance coping with tactics used by an abusive ex-partner during the litigation process
- Referrals to other needed community supports (i.e. housing, income support, etc)
We also assist women to prepare for meetings with you and for court. This involves:
- Supporting a woman to compile historical information and third party information that she can then provide to you
- Accompanying the woman to appointments with you for note-taking and emotional support purposes
- Supporting the woman to follow through on your requests
- Accompanying the woman to court for support
- Other assistance that you might request (i.e. review of court documents)
