Bridging the gap between the needs of survivors of family violence and the realities of family court

Luke’s Place joined the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children for a webinar on supporting women through family court.

Our Legal Director, Pamela Cross, discussed the challenges survivors face when seeking safety and support in the family court. She was joined by Linda Baker of CREVAW who looked at the impact of trauma in this context. The webinar includes information on how court-related professionals and the system can become trauma informed as well as promising practices, such as the Family Court Support Worker program.

This webinar was attended by over 700 participants. In response to the many questions she received, our Legal Director created an answer sheet, which is attached below.
