Finding Hope Despite the Despair: Pamela Cross on Ending Gender-Based Violence, Hosted by CFUW Perth

On January 19th, feminist lawyer Pamela Cross will lead a virtual session titled “Finding Hope Despite the Despair: Moving Forward to End Gender-Based Violence.”

In this powerful free online talk, hosted by CFUW Perth, Pamela draws on more than 30 years of frontline experience in the violence against women movement to explore why our legal systems continue to fail so many survivors, and where real hope for change can still be found.

At a time when gender-based violence is more visible than ever, she will challenge us to think beyond the law, and toward a society-wide approach to building communities that are safe for everyone. This is a timely, hopeful conversation you won’t want to miss.

Pamela Cross is a Canadian lawyer, advocate, and former Legal Director of Luke’s Place. She is the author of, And Sometimes They Kill You: Confronting the Epidemic of Intimate Partner Violence (2024), shortlisted for the Donner Prize. Pamela has decades of experience supporting survivors, training professionals, and advocating for systemic change in Canada.
