New evening Early Information Safety Session (EIS) expands access to family law information and support

Early Information Session and Family Law Information Workshops for women

When women are navigating separation, family court, and the impacts of intimate partner violence, knowing where to start can feel overwhelming.

At Luke’s Place, we know that access to accurate information and early support can make a significant difference. That’s why we’re excited to offer an additional evening session of our Early Information and Safety Session (EIS).

For many women, attending daytime programming can be difficult due to work schedules, childcare responsibilities, court appearances, or other commitments. This new evening option is designed to make it easier to access critical information and support.

Introducing our Evening EIS Session

While most of our Early Information and Safety Sessions are offered during the day, we are offering a special evening session:

📅 October 15, 2026
🕡 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST
💻 Virtual

The session will provide the same valuable information and support as our daytime offerings in a more accessible evening format.

What is an Early Information and Safety Session (EIS)?

EIS sessions are designed for women who have been subjected to intimate partner violence and are in the early stages of the family law process.

The sessions provide essential information on:

  • Answers to common questions about the family law process
  • Tips on navigating the family law system
  • Safety planning
  • An information package
  • Information about other services offered by Luke’s Place and in the community
  • Our Family Court and Beyond workbook and organizer

The EIS session is often a woman’s first connection to Luke’s Place and are designed to help participants better understand their rights, options, and next steps.

Many women tell us that one of the most valuable aspects of EIS is having a safe space to learn, ask questions, and gain information that can help them make informed decisions for themselves and their children.

Looking for more in-depth information? Consider a Family Law Information Workshop (FLIW)

Women looking for more in-depth information can also attend our Family Law Information Workshops (FLIW).

These virtual workshops are offered bi-weekly, delivered by a family law lawyer and a legal support worker and focus on specific family law topics, including:

  • Getting Started: Overview of Family Law and Family Court Process
  • Working Effectively with Your Lawyer
  • Managing a Legal Bully
  • Presenting Evidence of Abuse
  • How to Complete Court Documents
  • Working with Court-Related Services

Unlike EIS, which provides a broad introduction to family law and safety issues, FLIWs allow participants to dive deeper into subjects that are most relevant to their circumstances.

Women are welcome to attend a single workshop, several workshops, or the entire series.

Which program is right for you?

If you’re just beginning to navigate separation or family law issues following abuse, an Early Information and Safety Session (EIS) is often the best place to start.

If you’ve already attended EIS or are looking for more detailed information on specific family law topics, a Family Law Information Workshop (FLIW) may be the right next step.

Many women participate in both programs to build their knowledge, confidence, and understanding of the family law system.
