Luke’s Place is embarking on an exciting project!

We are embarking on an exciting project and hope you will join us. With funding from Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), we will increase the capacity of feminist organizations across Canada to engage in systemic law and policy reform related to gender-based violence and women’s equality. We will also support organizations – including our own — to enhance media skills and resources so that we can tell our stories more effectively, raise awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) and advocate for the changes that are needed to improve responses to and, ultimately, prevent GBV.

Over the next two years, we will develop trainings and resources which will be available at no cost to those who share our commitment to advancing GBV issues in the Canadian legal system and who want to improve their media engagement.

We will also be partnering with NAWL (the National Association of Women and the Law) to establish a national feminist law and policy reform coalition that will advocate for much-needed changes on a variety of women’s equality and GBV issues.

While much of the work will be done virtually, we are planning regional in-person gatherings in late 2023/early 2024.

In May, we will be conducting a needs assessment to ensure that the resources and trainings developed meet the needs of those interested in participating.

Sincerely,

Luke’s Place acknowledges the support of Women and Gender Equality Canada
